Professional public accreditation procedure

The procedure of professional public accreditation consists of following stages: application submitting, carrying out university self-study, on-site expert group visit, making Final statement – accredited/not accredited program.

  1. The educational institution submits the application addressed to the director of the Accreditation Center for RAEE (AC RAEE). The application should contain name and code cod number of the educational program. In case when the institution wishes to accredit a number of programs then the names of all programs should be stated.

  2. Director of the AC RAEE decides to start the procedure of professional public accreditation. RAEE concludes the contract with the institution on professional public accreditation of the institute’s program (programs).

  3. AC RAEE submits current criteria for the proposed program and a reference manual for carrying out a self study.

  4. Then it carries out a self-study of proposed engineering programs, the results of which are sent to the AC RAEE.

  5. AC RAEE sets up the on-site expert group, which visits the institution for auditing the educational program. Nevertheless, the minimum team size for a general review is four persons. If there several programs that have to be evaluated then more than one expert group can be set up. It depends on the programs’ criteria.

  6. The institution gives a written consent to the list of expert group members or denies it.

  7. Every expert has to sign a conflict of interest.

  8. Having studied the self-study documents the AC RAEE makes a decision to continue the accreditation and auditing process, update self-study or stop accreditation. If the last is chosen then a written notice must be sent.

  9. If a positive decision is made – program chair evaluator stipulates the committee work schedule.

  10. This time-period can not be shorter than three days. On the end of the time of service committee chairman and head of institution have to sign an auditing report .

  11. A comprehensive review is required for preparation of a report by the evaluation team. A comprehensive review addresses all applicable criteria and consists of the review of a self-study report prepared by the institution, an on-site review by an evaluation team, and the experts’ points of view if they differ from the conclusion.

  12. Evaluation report on the program accreditation must be sent within 3 weeks after auditing completion. During the next 2 weeks appeals or requests may be made.

  13. AC RAEE refers the evaluation report and the requests, if there are any, to the Accreditation Board , that makes the Final statement to the institution: “accredit” or “not to accredit”

  14. The Final statement of the Accreditation Board is approved by RAEE Board of Management. The Certificate of professional public accreditation signed by the RAEE President is sent to the institution. Accredited programs are added to the national register of accredited programs that is published in the mass media and in the official site of AC RAEE. This information is also given to the Ministry.

  15. When the accredited program can be awarded with EUR-ACE Label, then the institution receives a special Certificate signed by the Presidents of RAEE and ENAEE. Accredited program is registered in ENAEE.
